Four local residents (three Kenmore, one Bothell) completed the 112th running of the Boston Marathon on Monday.

Dan Kieling, 47, of Kenmore turned in the best time of the local runners, finishing in 3 hours, 34 minutes and 51 seconds (8:12 mile pace).

Kenmore’s Rhonda Jorgenson, 42, was the only local female to finish with a time of 3:43:28, while 43-year-old Rich Bennett was less than a minute behind at 3:44:11.

The only Bothell finisher was 60-year-old Norio Tanaka, a citizen of Japan, who finished in 4:31:22.

Larson running strong for Seattle Pacific

Seattle Pacific University sophomore Jane Larson — who won 10 individual track-and-field distance championships at Cedar Park Christian from 2003-2006 — is ranked first in the country in NCAA Division II in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9 minutes, 49.48 seconds, and second in the country in the 1,500 at 4:28.08.

In addition to being an undefeated state champion in track and field, Jane Larson won back-to-back cross-country championships in 2004 and 2005.

Larson was the catalyst behind the Eagles’ Class 1A overall state girls championship in 2006, winning the trifecta of the 800 meters, 1600 meters and 3200 meters for the second time.

Reed is on track

with Northwest U.

Bothell High graduate and Northwest University sophomore Jimmy Reed had two first-place finishes, including a school record, at the Warner Pacific meet in Portland last week. Reed won the 200 with a new Northwest-record of 22.37 seconds. He also had a personal best in the 100 with a time of 11.3.

Viks’ Baumgartner

Inglemoor High senior Chrissy Baumgartner was invited to participate in the Baden All-State High School Girls Roundball Classic game last Friday.

The game showcases several of the state’s top 4A players against an all-star 3A team. Kayla Williams and Jeanette Hansen of Ballard were the only two other players from 4A Kingco on the roster.

Baumgartner helped guide the Vikings to their first state-tournament appearance this decade.
