Cedar Park boys beat Meridian to open District 1 playoffs

George Reidy and Andrei Leonardi both scored 16 points to lead the Cedar Park Christian boys basketball team to a 52-43 win over Meridian in the first round of the Class 1A District 1 playoffs on Thursday in Bothell.

Leonardi also finished with 17 rebounds. The Eagles, as was expected under coach Adam Lynch, used a short bench to beat Meridian: only six players saw action.

Jack Flynn scored 11 points and Zach Fisk added six. Drew McLaurin scored three points and dished five assists, and now holds the school’s single-season assists record with 94.

Reidy had three steals, breaking Cedar Park’s single-season steals record with 63 steals and counting.

Senior Jack Stiger attempted only one shot, and did not score.

The Eagles can qualify for the Bi-District tournament with a win over Mount Baker on Friday evening. Tip is set for 7 p.m. in Deming, Wash.
