Cedar Park defeats Overlake/Bear Creek for 1A bi-district baseball title

Cedar Park Christian’s baseball team won the 1A bi-district championship with a 1-0 victory over Overlake/Bear Creek on Saturday at Joe Martin Stadium in Bellingham.

Jack Flynn pitched a complete game shutout and the Eagles scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Turner Glenn led off the Eagles’ turn at bat with a single to center field. During his at bat, Michael Doyle fouled off multiple pitches before putting a ground ball into play. A couple of defensive miscues resulted in Glenn racing around the bases and scoring the winning run.

Ryan Long and Peter Dudunakis had hits for the Growls.

The Growls (20-3) will take on Montesano at 10 a.m. Saturday at Castle Rock High in the 1A state tournament.

Cedar Park (21-2) will play Castle Rock at 1 p.m. Saturday at Daniels Field in Anacortes in the 1A state tournament.
