It’s nearly time for Little League softball teams from around the world to descend upon Everest Park in Kirkland for the 2018 Junior Softball World Series. This year’s host team will be from Redmond.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the event, which features players ages 12 to 14. The opening ceremonies will be held at noon July 29 and the championship game will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 4. Closing ceremonies will take place following the championship game.

Redmond will open tournament play against Asia Pacific at 5:45 p.m. on July 29. The World Series draws thousands of spectators and ESPN2 broadcasts the semifinals and final live.

Everest Park is located at 500 8th St. South.
