In the history of Kingco football, most coaches can count on the fingers of one hand how many times a regular-season football game has been nationally televised.
But last Thursday’s league crossover matchup featuring the seemingly unstoppable Skyline High Spartans (9-0), ranked as high as No. 7 in the nation, and the reigning state runner-up Bothell High Cougars (6-3) was not an ordinary game.
Continuing their utter domination of the 4A Kingco Crown Division, Bothell High beat Roosevelt High, 42-0, last Friday at Seattle Memorial Stadium.
Veteran basketball official Al Leonard has accepted the position of head coach for the Bothell High girls basketball team.
It was a mixed bag for Cedar Park Christian girls soccer last week.
The Eagles first enjoyed a 4-1 victory over Forest Ridge. Swing player and freshman Kathryn Kerr scored in the 24th minute (assist by Nicolette Clark) and 25th minute (unassisted). Sophomore Ryan Miller tallied in the 47th minute (assist from freshman Brie Boroughs). That same minute, Forest Ridge managed to score against Cedar Park. To end the game, Clark scored unassisted in the 75th minute.
In what was its most pivotal, pressure-filled match of the year, the Bothell High volleyball team defeated a talented and extraordinarily tall Issaquah High team on Senior Night last Tuesday at home.

Inglemoor High graduate Courtney Porter was recently named the Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance as goalkeeper for the Whitman College Missionaries soccer team.
Girls soccer
Bothell High won its first league game last Thursday night at home against Redmond High, 2-1.
Katherine Lacy scored off a Mackenzie Basom assist at 44 minutes, and seven minutes later, it was Sydney Howard finding the net off a Mo Moschel pass.
The Cedar Park Christian volleyball gals spiked onto the court with confidence last Tuesday.
The Eagles dominated Forest Ridge from the very beginning and set themselves up with a 3-0 victory. Junior Candice Whipple delivered 10 kills and four aces while freshman Mattie Shelford executed nine kills.
At the 2008 edition of the annual Spaghetti Bowl matchup between cross-town rivals Bothell High and Inglemoor High, it was the dynamic duo of Cougar starting quarterback Mitchell Muller and wide receiver Perry Conricode that came back for seconds. And thirds.
With a record of 1-2-2 in league play so far, the Inglemoor Vikings’ soccer season hasn’t quite gone the way head coach Bryan McNiel had hoped.

There’s the Spaghetti Bowl for football, but for girls soccer, the matchup could be called the Bowl You Over.
With crisp passes, communication and a spirit to win, Cedar Park Christian’s girls soccer players jogged into Robinswood Park to take on Forest Ridge Sept. 29.
It’s official: The Blue Train is back on track and rolling towards the postseason. After starting the season with two non-conference losses to Issaquah and Bellevue, the Cougars have outscored their opponents 153-7 over the past three games, displaying the on-field dominance that the program has been known for the past few seasons.
