Seventh annual Family Jewels 5K this weekend in Kenmore | Jaimeson Jones

The seventh annual Family Jewels 5K, formerly known as the Jaimeson Jones Memorial 5k, will take place at 9 a.m. on March 11 at Saint Edward State Park in Kenmore.

The event raises funds for the Jaimeson Jones Memorial Scholarship, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit associated with the Washington State University Foundation. The scholarship benefits siblings and family members of cancer patients.

Homemade pie, music, a technical shirt, and education about early detection of testicular cancer await participants at this family-friendly event.

Jones, who grew up in Bothell and graduated from Bothell High School in 2008, was a teenager when he was first diagnosed with stage five testicular cancer. Treatment put the Bothell High School track and cross country star into remission. But the cancer returned during his first year at Washington State University. Jones died in 2010 at the age of 20.

To register for the race go here. Registration is $35 per participant. Day-of-race registration begins at 8 a.m.
