Tretyak pitches a shutout in 4A KingCo championship match

When the clock finally hit zero at the conclusion of the third round, North Creek Jaguars 138-pound wrestler Hunter Tretyak couldn’t contain his excitement.

Tretyak, who soundly defeated Eastlake’s Chris Hom 11-0 in the 138-pound 4A KingCo championship final, threw his arms into the air while gazing at the crowd in the bleachers was joyful after attaining one of his dreams on the wrestling mat on Feb. 2 at North Creek High School.

“I have been working for this goal for the entire year. It was thousands of hours of training. Over the summer I worked out twice a day,” Tretyak explained.

Tretyak knew almost every wrestler he faced at the KingCo tournament but didn’t let who his opponent was effect his mindset in any way.

“I have wrestled a lot of these guys before. They were really good. I just went in with the mindset that I was going to beat everyone. It didn’t matter who they were or what they’ve done in the past. Last year I got second place and now I got the chance to finally take the title,” Tretyak said.
