Loring Gary Calkins Jr., Gary, passed away on February 5, 2009. He is sur-vived by Lu Alice his wife of 59 years; his children, Larry, Bob, Mark and Lucinda; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and his sister, Jane. He was born in Newton, MA on September 9, 1923 and graduated from Moses Brown Preparatory School. As a pilot in the Army Air Corps, he served in the European Front in World War II.He received a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Education at Washington State College, and a Master’s degree in Education at Seattle Pacific University. He taught school in Clarkston and Seattle Washington. He became a school administrator for the Seattle Public Schools. He was dedicated to his family, and was a storyteller with a great sense of humor. He succeeded in encouraging his children in the scouting programs, and enjoyed golf. He was a consummate teacher who instilled a sense of integrity, honesty and a positive outlook on life in many people.Memorial Services will be held at the Inglewood Presbyte-rian Church, 7718 141st NE Bothell, WA 98011, at 2:00 PM on February 14, 2009. A reception will follow. Donations can be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 12721 30th Avenue NE, Seattle, WA 98125.
