The Cascadia Community College Foundation recently announced the creation of the Bill Christopher Scholarship to honor former Cascadia President Bill Christopher, who retired July 14.
“During his five years of dedicated service at Cascadia, Christopher was a strong supporter of the foundation. Establishing a scholarship in his name is a fitting way to honor his commitment and contributions to student learning and student success at Cascadia,” says Dennis Stefani, chair of the foundation’s board of directors.
The scholarship will help students in need to further their education and continue on the path to success. It will be awarded for the first time next spring.
“I am truly humbled by the foundation’s recognition. Scholarships that the foundation is able to provide make a world of difference for students and their families,” says Christopher. “What an honor to know that, for years to come, Cascadia students will be able to realize their dreams with the help of a scholarship that bears my name.”
Throughout his 34-year career in community colleges, Christopher was a consistent advocate for creating access for students to affordable, high-quality education. Cascadia’s high-quality learning environment was recognized in 2007 when the college was ranked the No. 2 community college in the U.S. by Washington Monthly magazine.
