Bothell High finished just one win shy of the 4A state volleyball tournament last season. It was a tough and heartbreaking loss that ended the Cougars’ campaign.
On a road trip to Skyview High of Vancouver, the No. 5 host defeated the Cougars, 3-2, to advance to state. Skyview won the first two sets, and Bothell (10-1 league, 15-4 overall) rebounded to win the next two to force a fifth and deciding set. Bothell led 11-4, but Skyview eventually prevailed, 17-15.
On this year’s squad, coach Marlie Davis said: “Graduating seven seniors has us rebuilding our team chemistry and lineup this year. I have a great group of ladies who are competitive and working hard to get better every day.”
Top returners are junior Allie Hadley (outside hitter/setter), senior Allie Castrejon (outside hitter/middle), senior Haley Bedell (outside hitter) and junior Taylor Tobin (outside hitter/middle).
Newcomers to watch are sophomores Emma Salud (6-foot outside hitter/middle) and Katie Arneson (outside hitter).
