Inglemoor volleyball beats Bothell in tiebreaker

Inglemoor High won an all-Northshore battle on the volleyball court in thrilling fashion Monday night at Bothell High, as the Vikings won a race-to-15 tiebreaker, 15-5, to cap a 3-2 victory over the Cougars.
The Vikings narrowly escaped with wins in games one and three, 25-23 and 25-22, but took control of the tiebreaker early and were able to finish strong. Bothell won games two and four, 25-15 and 25-18.
Inglemoor’s Megan Bafus and Bothell’s Piercen Lundquist both slammed a game-high 14 kills, followed by Viking Emily Anderson with 12 and Bothell’s Haley Bedell with 11. Anderson also notched 22 digs, leading all players, and Inglemoor’s Stephanie Griffiths served up eight aces and had 18 digs.
Other highlights for Inglemoor were setter Samantha Reed’s 31 assists and Bafus’ 14 digs. For Bothell, libero Hope Frazier had 21 digs, Allie Hadley had 28 assists and four aces, Makenzie Kruger had 10 assists and Bedell had 13 digs.
With the win, the Vikings moved up to a three-way tie for third place in the league at 7-3 (9-5) with Roosevelt and Woodinville, while Bothell is in a tie for sixth with Garfield at 4-6 (5-9).
