Northshore students win State History Day awards

Twenty-one Northshore students won awards for their history projects at the Washington State History Day Competition May 5 in Bellevue, and seven Northshore projects are eligible to compete at the national level.

Students earning a first- or second-place award can attend the Kenneth E. Behring National History Day Contest June 10-14 at the University of Maryland, where projects from across the United States, American Samoa, Guam, International Schools and Department of Defense Schools in Europe will meet and compete in either the junior (grades 6-8) or senior (grades 9-12) level.

Kenmore Junior High eighth-grader Tobin Hansen’s junior paper received the Lyle L. Nelson Research Award and Timbecrest Junior High’s team was named the state’s Outstanding School in the Junior Division.
