New traffic signal activated in Kenmore, construction complete

The new traffic signal at the intersection of 61st Ave. N.E. and N.E. 181st Street in Kenmore is now in operation and all lanes are open.
This safety improvement project included the traffic signal, roadway widening, illumination and placing utilities underground.
A second project was completed in this intersection during this time frame. Culverts carrying a stream along 61st Ave. N.E. and underneath N.E. 181st Street had to be replaced. The new culvert provides additional conveyance capacity, removes fish barriers, and improves fish habitat.
Construction of these improvements began in August 2012. The projects were constructed by Razz Construction out of Bellingham.
The traffic signal was partially funded by a $650,000 appropriation from the State Legislature.
