The Northshore School District is seeking two parent/community members for its new Middle Level Advanced Placement Committee. In addition to the two parent/community member representatives, the committee will have two junior high school administrators, four teachers and one counselor, and will be chaired by Gretchen Schaefer, the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment 7-12.
The committee will develop the district’s plan for providing highly capable programs and services for eligible students in grades seven and eight that will be presented to the school board for approval. The plan will meet requirements outlined in recent legislation and will be submitted to the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction following board approval.
Interested parents must be committed to attending all committee meetings and complete all meeting preparations, such as reading materials specific to this topic. The meeting schedule will be established at the first committee meeting. Meetings will be scheduled during the workweek, and the time will likely be late afternoons.
Applications are due by Sept. 25 to the Communications Office, 3330 Monte Villa Parkway, Bothell, WA 98021. These voluntary positions are appointed by the superintendent in consultation with the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment 7-12 and the school board vice-President. Committee members will be notified of their selection by Oct 1. Applications are available at www.nsd.org or by contacting the Communications Office, 425-408-7670.
