Sixteen NSD students selected as National Merit semifinalists

Sixteen Northshore School District students have been named semifinalists in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship competition.

The students are: Inglemoor High School – Julian Bacon, Thomas Geffner, Mary E. Gwin, Mollie E. Hansen, Andrew Jones, Kristin Li, Kyle Y. McCrohan, Elena A. Plenefisch, Apurva Raman, Erika Z. Sun, Alex S. Yang and Helen J. Zhang; Woodinville High School – Robin M. Sherry and Malavika Venkatesan; Northshore Networks – Jared D. Boyer and Travis B. Chen.

Across the nation, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation designates about 16,000 semifinalists from among nearly 1.5 million students who take the PSAT during their sophomore or junior year. National Merit Semifinalists are considered for National Merit Finalist status and the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 8,000 National Merit Scholarships worth about $35 million that will be offered next spring.
