City of Bothell and Country Village have joined forces to celebrate the completion of the Bothell-Everett Highway construction project that widened the road from 240th north to 228th. The project also installed a new traffic signal at Country Village Way, providing easier access to and from the shopping village.
“Improving this critical north-south corridor not only improves traffic flow, but creates a better connection between Bothell’s downtown and the community’s other commercial and residential centers to the north,” said Mayor Joshua Freed.
The public is invited to attend a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to be held on Oct. 3, at 11 a.m. on the corner of Bothell-Everett Highway and Country Village Way. Light refreshments will be provided by Country Village’s The Steel Pan Restaurant and Jantee Bistro & Bottle Shop. Country Village will also provide shopping totes and coupons to all who attend. Attendees are invited to stay afterward, explore Country Village and its shops and enjoy the last Bothell Farmers Market for this year.
This project cost $10.2 Million and was funded in part by $8.6 Million of grants from the Federal Highway Administration and the State of Washington Transportation Improvement Board. The traffic signal installation was funded by Country Village. Improvements included:
• Bothell-Everett Highway widened from two lanes to four through lanes and a center turn lane or median
• New bicycle lanes along both sides of Bothell-Everett Highway
• New curbs and gutters
• Stormwater treatment and detention
• Sidewalks along both sides of Bothell-Everett Highway
• Pavement overlay
• Improved transit stops along the corridor
• Construction of retaining walls
