Northshore School District to host open house for parents

Published 11:44 am Monday, October 6, 2014

The Northshore School District will host informational open house events for parents interested in learning more about the PACE (Parents Active in Cooperative Education) program for elementary students at 7 p.m. Oct. 21.

A choice program offered through the Northshore School District, PACE is a community approach to education. PACE members describe the program as committed to an enriched learning environment, emphasizing active participation of families, innovative teaching techniques, and a partnership of teachers, parents and students.

The community approach offers students an enriched educational experience by providing additional learning opportunities that are not usually included in a traditional classroom environment. There are currently three PACE sites serving every elementary school in the district.

Enrollment in PACE is open to all children in grades first through sixth in the Northshore School District on a space-available basis. Placement is by blind lottery.

At each open house, students, parents and staff in the PACE program will provide a brief overview of the program’s philosophy and goals, and be available to answer questions about their own experiences in PACE.
