It can be quite revealing to see who is supporting the candidates for Bothell City Council through cash donations. All campaign contributions are required to be reported to the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission and that information is available on their web site: pdc.wa.gov.

Here is a summary of contributions from Bothell residents and political action committees (PAC) that voters may want to consider as they mark their ballots. The percentages (rounded) show the fraction of dollars contributed. Donations from family, business owners and out-of-town individuals make up the remainder. All numbers as of Oct. 19:

Position 2: Rheaume: Residents – 79 percent (48 people); PAC – 0 percent. Gorc: Residents – 30 percent (16 people); PAC* – 21 percent.

Position 4: McNeal: Residents – 68 percent (49 people); PAC – 0 percent. Ottersburg: Residents – 2 percent (one person); PAC* – 32 percent.

Position 6: Duerr: Residents – 80 percent (50 people); PAC** – 3 percent. Lee: Residents – 5 percent (four people); PAC* – 66 percent.

* Master Builders and Washignton Realtors – Gorc, Ottersburg and Lee each received a total of $1,900 in special interest money.

** National Woman’s Political Caucus Campaign Fund gave $250 to Duerr.

It seems clear who will be focused on doing what is best for the residents of Bothell. By all means, please mail your ballot by Nov. 3.
