I saw the Letter to the Editor, titled “The City of Kenmore should be more sensitive to the bird it uses as a symbol,” dated April 27 and wanted to respond.

The city thinks it is awesome that people come to Kenmore to enjoy our community and the Great Blue Heron rookery. We too love the birds and are concerned for their health and wellbeing.

We have reached out to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife for their input and direction on this matter and have referred concerns to the contractor. WDFW has looked into the construction project and has approved it and the contractors have agreed relocate their equipment from the area.

We welcome comments, concerns and suggestions. Thank you.
