Preserve Shelton View Forest in Bothell | Letter

Thank you for last week’s article about Shelton View Forest. I live in Everett, own a business in Bothell and drive past this forest every day. I had no idea there was such a forest within Bothell. Not until a friend took me in one evening last fall.
My “introduction” took us past a small cedar tree where, 15 feet from our trail, a Barred Owl sat watching us, turning its head as if knowing why we had reached for our phone cameras. I was stunned, exhilarated and willingly lured into efforts to preserve this quiet wild place for all of us.
I’ve since become a teammate to those installing entry steps, a new trailhead kiosk and trail work. I’ll give effort and financial support to help the City of Bothell acquire and preserve such a gem of habitat and recreation.
