Department of Ecology proposes removal of Bothell property from contaminated sites list

The Department of Ecology has proposed to remove a Bothell property from a statewide list of contaminated sites because the site has been shown to meet state cleanup standards.

The Schlueter property, at 1515 196th Street SE, contained soil contaminated by petroleum compounds and heavy metals.

The property owner removed about 2.5 tons of contaminated soil last year, after sampling potentially contaminated areas on the site. The cleanup was evaluated under Ecology’s Voluntary Cleanup Program.

Ecology has determined that the site no longer poses a threat to human health or the environment and meets the requirements for removal from the department’s Hazardous Sites List. Before doing so, Ecology invites public comment until April 2.
