Sarah DeLand from Bothell has received a National Ocean Sciences Bowl 2011 National Ocean Scholarship.
The Henry M. Jackson High graduate earned an associates of arts and sciences degree from the Ocean Research College Academy at Everett Community College, an early college program focused on marine research. She attended Capitol Hill Ocean Week in Washington, DC, last June as a Junior Ocean Diplomat and volunteers at the Seattle Aquarium. She will be attending Western Washington University to study marine biology, and hopes to pursue her interests further in graduate school.
