The following is a release from the Washington State Department of Transportation:
The Washington State Department of Transportation will take advantage of an on-the-road weekend for Seattle’s sports teams to close the SR 520 floating bridge and highway next weekend for important safety and construction work. The closure could mean more traffic on SR 522 through Bothell and Kenmore.
Starting Friday night, Oct. 17, WSDOT contractor crews will close the SR 520 bridge from Montlake Boulevard to Interstate 405. The closures will allow contactors on SR 520 to begin demolition of the never-completed R.H. Thomson Expressway “Ramps to Nowhere.” Also, crews will stripe the roadway on the Eastside.
All lanes of SR 520 will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, in time for the morning commute.
