A thankful reply to Bothell Mayor Andy Rheaume regarding the Fitzgerald subarea Zone 1 properties east of 39th Ave S.E. about to enter a mediation process:
“Thank you sir. I really appreciate your concern and willingness to help address facts. I have to note the concerns that I have about SAVE, the non profit, and their unwillingness to allow – to recognize the true characteristics of Zone 1 east of 39th Avenue Southeast, their knowledge of the law, resources well established, allow them the unique position of obstructionists, a well established fact that allows them to delay filings for appeals, to drag the process to the time limits in order to succeed. This in particular is the reason why we have been dragged through 19 years of non success is receiving any real resolve with this zoning issue.
They have no authority otherwise, are not a government agency but they have maintained this anvil over our heads which in our particular case has disallowed us the resources of our only real investment, our land. This has disabled us from moving forward with any more effort to help our son who has lost so much ground with his brain disorder, an Ataxia, that it is developing too far to recover from even if we could pay, for example, to send him to the Mayo Clinic for trials. That window of opportunity is closing.
I’m officially old now and I have no real aspiration for the future. When you have gained this stature you know it, life spent in hand. What has happened to us through this journey is a true, a real bona fide wrong. Bothell city staff tried to rectify it but SAVE obstructed, again. And again it was because of the failure to recognize the true characteristic of Zone 1 properties that were never actually tested or had studies performed during the original BAS, best available science review in the Fitzgerald subarea.
Again, thank you. And if I was a betting person I wouldn’t know how to bet on this mediation process. At this point my spirit gives me no inspiration one way
or the other.”
