The Snohomish County Human Rights Commission is looking for interested candidates to serve volunteer three-year terms on the county’s human rights commission.

The commission serves as human rights educators, advocates and advisors within Snohomish County.  Commission volunteers will help advance human rights issues within Snohomish County and educate residents and both appointed and elected officials about human rights issues and how they impact the community.

Commission volunteers must be residents of Snohomish County with a passion for human rights and a commitment to serve the community. The commission meets monthly on the third Tuesday of the month in open public meetings and commissioners spend between five and 10 additional hours each month on commission activities, special events and community outreach.

Interested candidates are encouraged to learn more about the commission by visiting www.snoco.org and searching for “boards and commissions.” The human rights commission’s revised ordinance and by-laws are posted on the website, which provide detail about the responsibilities and authorities of the commission.
