Anne Marie Blakey has been named assistant vice chancellor of marketing and communications at the University of Washington Bothell.
In the new position reporting to Phil Akers, vice chancellor of advancement and external relations, Blakey will lead the university’s marketing and communications efforts. She will build on the work of the current team and lead strategic communications planning and implementation in collaboration with partners across the campus.
“UW Bothell students and faculty have a strong reputation for innovation and entrepreneurship. The university is also firmly committed to excellence in teaching, research and community engagement,” says Blakey. “These are hallmarks of a great university in the 21st century, and I am thrilled to become a member of this campus community.”
Blakey, who goes by her middle name Marie, has been the chief communications officer for the provost’s office and held other leadership positions at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. She previously served as director of public relations for Mount St. Mary’s University and as director of creative services for Loyola Marymount University, both in Los Angeles.
“Marie brings a solid track record of achievement and success to UW Bothell. Her strategic approach to marketing and communications and her leadership abilities will enhance our efforts to increase recognition and understanding of the excellence we provide in the classroom and throughout the region,” Akers says.
