Maxine Elaine Peterson Smith passed away peacefully on March 14, 2017 at the age of 89 in Bothell, Washington. Born on August 18, 1927 to Nels and Beatrice Peterson in Seattle, WA, she was one of three children.
Maxine loved visiting her grandparents George and Mary Ann Hughes, pioneers in Woodinville, Washington, often playing in Woodin Creek. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1945. Maxine and Glenn Smith married on April 18, 1947.
Glenn and Maxine enjoyed hiking on Mount Rainier, bowling at Kenmore Lanes, swimming and dancing at the Elks Club in Lake City, gardening, and helping out with local politics. Together they ran the ALA 45 Credit Union for more than twenty years. She lived in her Mathews Beach home 66 years until this past fall. She lived a happy, full and blessed life and is now reunited with her husband of 52 years Glenn Smith, parents Nels and Beatrice Peterson, sister Bernice and brother Clark.
Maxine is survived by daughters A. Jeanne Ensor, Carol Smith, six grandchildren Kelly Snyder (Virgil), Andrew Ensor, Crystal Bliss (Andy), Heidi Mendenhall (Ron), Amy Gieschen (Derek) and Danielle Nicole Fitzpatrick, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and a nephew.
In lieu of a service, the family encourages everyone to take a moment and enjoy the great outdoors, take a hike, dance with a loved one and/or plant a pink rose bush.
