Unfortunately, your Editor’s Note in the Sept. 18 issue of the Reporter repeats a couple of incorrect statements by the city and proponents regarding Bothell’s so-called ‘Parks and Public Space’ levy on the November ballot. First, that the multiway will be completed. The two west side blocks finished this year cost $10.3 million with only $1.2 million from developers. The city’s just approved Capital Facilities Plan (CFP) has no project or funding to finish the two remaining blocks on that side of the boulevard. The east side of the multiway is projected to cost $21.5 million – $20.7 million from the levy, if approved, and zero dollars from developers.

You repeat the totally false claim that the Park at Bothell Landing (PABL) will be completed. The PABL project in the CFP lists the entire project cost at $12.5 million – not including replacing the bridge – yet the levy only has $6.1 million for the park. Only four of the 10 zones in the master plan are covered and the bridge is a separate project seeking federal grants and zero levy dollars.

It is important that voters be given the honest facts about this bond. They can get them at www.BothellProp1.org.
