Bothell’s Attic Theatre will present “Shadowlands,” the powerful stage drama about the true story of C. S. Lewis and Joy Gresham, Feb. 19-21 and 26-27 at the Meydenbauer Theatre in Bellevue.

Made into a Richard Attenborough film staring Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger, “Shadowlands” tells the often humorous, yet heartbreaking story of how this famous Oxford professor met and married a spunky American divorcee, and how their lives were shattered after only three years of marriage.

“Seeing the love and pain of C. S. Lewis unfold on stage before your eyes is an deeply moving experience,” says Jane Reinhardt, the artistic director of the Attic Theatre. “You and I have all known love and pain, so to see those two emotions portrayed so vividly in this wonderful drama reflects a sense of healing in our own sorrows and joy in the midst of personal tragedies.”
