Nature & Nurture, a new Holistic Mental Health Counseling and Nutrition practice has announce the launch of Melissae Sisterhood for National Child Awareness Month, an empowerment group for 9-12 year old girls focused on leadership, connection and health.

This group will meet for eight Mondays between 6:30-8 p.m. beginning on July 7 at Eastside Natural Medicine in Kirkland.

Jannae Rice is a holistic mental health counselor associate and nutritionist, who will lead the group. She graduated from Bastyr University in Kenmore with a dual masters in nutrition and clinical health psychology.

“Because of my unique training in nutrition and mental health, I am able to address nutritional deficiencies that contribute to symptoms of anxiety, depression, sleep issues and other mental health disorders,” said Rice. “My relationship with my clients and collaboration with their treatment team is one of the most important aspects of my work.”

National Child Awareness Month is an initiative spearheaded by Festival of Children Foundation to raise awareness of children’s issues and to encourage our nation’s youth to take action.

Melissae Sisterhood strives to build a community to help girls increase resilience to messages that place a higher value on improving and changing physical appearance versus who they really are. Melissae Sisterhood provides an upbeat, creative and safe space for each girl to feel empowered in her unique body, heart and mind. This group will build a foundation where girls love, accept and believe in themselves while leaning into a community valuing what is on the inside.

Currently Rice is working with families, adults, teens and children doing both nutrition and counseling. Specializing in anxiety, depression, nutrition in mental health, disordered eating and preventative health.  She is passionate about nutrition, rethinking mental health and community.

Located within Eastside Natural Medicine clinic at 13128 Totem Lake Blvd NE, Suite 104, clients will experience a very personal level of care.
