Novice and intermediate athletes will be competing in the Festivus Games at CrossFit Bothell on April 18. Roughly 42 men and women from around the Puget Sound will be participating in this competition specifically geared for fitness enthusiasts who are not regular competitors. Coming in a few weeks after the yearly CrossFit Open, the Festivus Games promises to be a fitness competition for the ‘rest of us,’ who won’t be moving forward in the Regional CrossFit Games.

This is the second year CrossFit Bothell is hosting Festivus, and owners Jeff and Jackie Langton are ready to welcome new and returning athletes, as well as those curious about CrossFit. The full day of fitness not only includes the Festivus Games, but also Outside the Box food truck, athlete resources from Airrosti, and chair massages from Meadows Health and Wellness. “At CrossFit Bothell we strive to create a community of support for all athletes, and give them the tools and education they need to continue to improve,” said Jeff Langton. “We also make fitness fun, build community connections, and really establish ourselves as a place of support, growth, and family.”

“CrossFit is a great workout for everyone, no matter their fitness level. Everything can be customized and you will see marked improvements as you go,” said Jackie Langton. “Our coaches are here to get you going and our members are here cheering you on.”

CrossFit Bothell athlete and local resident Jenn Burruel is competing in her second Festivus Games, this year at the intermediate level.

“Last year I really pushed myself through the novice level, and to my complete surprise made it to the final round, and finished fifth,” Burrell said. “I promised myself that I would be competing at the intermediate level this year and trained really hard over the year. Festivus is a fun day of sweating it out with friends and new faces, and leaving everything you have out on that floor.”

The Festivus Games are hosted nationwide on Saturday at regional CrossFit gym affiliates, with an expected 5,000 athletes competing. To learn more about Festivus please visit www.festivusgames.com.

CrossFit Bothell is open to new members, and invites the curious to take a class for free, or register for an OnRamp class to get started. Visit www.crossfitbothell.com to learn more.
