Kenmore Town Square to feature music and movies tonight

Today, Kenmore’s Town Square will feature various programming around the Pianos in the Parks public art program.

First up is the Instrument Petting Zoo, hosted by the Music Center of the Northwest. The program will be from 6:15-7:15 p.m. and kids will have the opportunity to learn the joys of playing an instrument.

This will be followed by a performance by local artist Scarlet Parke from 7:30-8:30 p.m. as she plays upbeat songs and covers to entertain the whole family.

The piano — which was painted by Kenmore resident and artist Emma Russell and is located just outside the Hangar community building on the corner of 68th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 181st Street — will be onsite through Sunday.

Residents are asked to share their experiences with the pianos using the tags #PianosintheParks, #WhyILoveKenmore and #KenmoreWA.

The evening will end with “The Lego Batman Movie” as a part of Kenmore’s Movies @ the Square series.

Food trucks will be on site beginning at 7:30 p.m. and the movie will begin at dusk. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or low-back chair and cozy up under the stars. Alcohol is not permitted.

Here are the remaining dates for the movie series:

Aug. 9 — “La La Land”

Aug. 23 — “Finding Dory”

Aug. 30 — “Beauty and the Beast”
