Kenmore’s Church of the Redeemer to host Music of the Church Year in June

Kenmore's Church of the Redeemer will host the concert Music of the Church Year at 5 p.m. on June 1.

Kenmore’s Church of the Redeemer will host the concert Music of the Church Year at 5 p.m. on June 1.

The concert will be presented by Sheila Bristow. Works will include: Prelude in C Major, BuxWV 137, Dietrich Buxtehude; Chorale Prelude on “Drop, Drop, Slow Tears,” Op. 104, Vincent Persichetti; Partita on “Picardy,” Richard W. Hillert; and Chorale Prelude on “Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern,” T. 7, Johann Pachabel.

The concert is free but a donation is suggested to support the music program at the church.

In addition to being organist and music director at Church of the Redeemer, Bristow is a versatile keyboardist active in the Tacoma and Seattle areas. She has accompanied several Tacoma Opera productions and coached their 2009 and 2010 young artist programs. As coach/accompanist at Pacific Lutheran University, Bristow coached Die Fledermaus and Albert Herring and provides studio and recital accompaniment.

She has accompanied many vocal recitals, opera workshops, and Seattle Opera previews, and also performed as a continuo player with Tacoma Opera, Seattle Academy of Baroque Opera, Seattle Pro Musica, and Concerto Baroque.

Bristow studied music composition as a Kreielsheimer Scholar at Cornish College of the Arts, and received her Master in Music in organ performance from the University of Washington.
