Northshore Senior Center to hold classes promoting healthy living and healthy eating

The Northshore Senior Center (NSC) is holding two events later this month that will be open to the public.

The first event is Celebration of Summer Berries from 10-11:30 a.m. on June 28.

In this class, attendees will discuss the nutritional content of local berries and why eating and preserving them at peak season is best for the body and planet. There will also be demonstrations of preservation techniques and recipes will be provided.

The second event is Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body: Tips from the Latest Research.

This class will feature scientific information that provides insights into how to make lifestyle choices that may help keep the brain and body healthy as we age. Attendees will learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement. The class will also offer hands-on tools to help incorporate these recommendations into a plan for healthy aging.

The class presenter is Chris Louie, education coordinator and trainer for the Alzheimer’s Association.

This event will be from 11 a.m. to noon on June 30.

Both events will be at NSC, 10201 E. Riverside Dr. in Bothell.
