Whittaker goes big with ‘Shrek’ role

Bothell’s Keaton Whittaker is set to take the stage at The 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle.

The 11-year-old actress will perform the role of Young Fiona in some showings of “Shrek the Musical,” which will play an exclusive pre-Broadway engagement Aug. 14-Sept. 21.

Whittaker, who attends King’s Elementary School in Shoreline, played the role of Susan in The 5th Avenue Theatre’s production of “White Christmas” and appeared in the children’s ensemble of “Whistle Down the Wind.” She also starred as Scout in Intiman Theatre’s production of “To Kill a Mockingbird” and appeared as the narrator in Village Theatre’s Kidstage production of “Aladdin.”
