A semi truck with a flatbed trailer carrying cement fixtures collided with a white car at about 3:21 p.m. Dec. 11 near Country Village on State Route 527 in Bothell. The wreck caused a 2 1/2-hour traffic backup, and roads were closed in both directions at 240th Street Southeast and 228th Street.

City of Bothell police, fire and public-works members, along with Washington State Department of Transportation workers, were on the scene.

The male driver of the white vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland.

According to Bothell Police Capt. Denise Langford, the semi was carrying the load south on SR 527 to the nearby Brightwater wastewater project when the other driver pulled out of Country Village in front of the semi.

“It (the semi) couldn’t stop in time,” she said.

Langford noted that cement fixtures shifted and some came off the trailer and damaged its cab. The Brightwater workers sent a forklift and a new cab to haul off the flatbed, she added.
