Arts of Kenmore presents 11 grants to Kenmore schools

The Arts of Kenmore organization announced that it has presented 11 arts grants to five different schools in Kenmore. The group gave out $2,950 in all.

The Arts of Kenmore organization announced that it has presented 11 arts grants to five different schools in Kenmore. The group gave out $2,950 in all.

Inglemoor High SchoolThe Jazz Ensemble received a grant to purchase an improvisation software program, a technological aid for the jazz students.The Drama Performance Class/Musical Theater received a grant to support the performance class and help with the expense of putting on “Pride and Prejudice.”The Drama Program/Technical Theater received a grant to go towards the purchase of a new stage light fixture for the Si Siverson Theater at Inglemoor High School.

Kenmore Junior High SchoolKenmore Junior High received a grant to help support the Symphonic Orchestra. It will help cover the participation fee for 46 students for the Bluegrass Festival’s Wintergrass Youth Orchestra in May 2013.

Kenmore Elementary SchoolKenmore Elementary received a grant to support all four second-grade classes, helping to pay for a field trip to the Seattle Art Museum for all second graders. This will help cover the cost of admission, a docent-led tour and a hands-on art project done in the studio at the museum.

Lockwood Elementary SchoolLockwood Elementary received three grants, including: School-wide support for the purchase of two class sets of watercolors that may be checked out and used by all teachers; help pay for a field trip to the Seattle Art Museum for all second graders and participating in their “Animals in Art” program; and one for the Lockwood PACE program to help fund their Drawing Mini Units, during which multi-age groups of students will be exploring a variety of drawing techniques with visiting artists.

Arrowhead Elementary SchoolArrowhead Elementary received three AOK grants. The fifth grade quilt project received a grant to help purchase the materials needed for the 67 fifth graders to make their own “Americana Quilt” to coincide with their US History curriculum. A grant was given to help purchase materials needed to create a glass and ceramic tile mosaic art piece for the sixth grade mosaic project. It will be planned, built and installed by the 6th graders and located in one of the school’s garden areas. And a grant was given to help Contained Learning Center conduct a field trip to the Frye Art Museum. This will help cover transportation, a guided visit and a hands-on studio activity.
