The Bothell Police Department is warning residents about an attempted kidnapping that took place yesterday afternoon in downtown Bothell.

The female victim tried to catch a bus at around 2 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the intersection of 102nd Avenue NE and Main Street in Bothell when she noticed a male also waiting at the bus stop when she arrived. While the victim was standing, the male approached her from behind, placed his arm around her neck and told the victim to go with him. The man threatened that she would be hurt if she didn’t comply.

“The female screamed and fought her way free of the suspect,” stated Bothell Police spokesman Sgt. Ken Seuberlich in a release. “The suspect then fled on foot toward the Kaysner Park and Ride.”

The attempted abduction was witnessed by a nearby construction worker who yelled at the suspect to let go of the victim. A passing motorist saw the victim laying on the sidewalk crying shortly after the assault and stopped to help.

The suspect was described as a white male between 40 and 50 years of age, 6-feet tall, 150 to 160 pounds with long, dark hair in a pony tail and a short beard. He was wearing dark clothing, with a hoody and a black baseball cap with white embroidery that possibly said, “Baseball”.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this attempted kidnapping to phone the Bothell Police Tips line at (425) 487-5551.
