Johan Jorna’s “Binary Christmas” is back for a second year — the display currently features more than 15,000 lights and continues to grow throughout the holiday season.

The display, which spans two houses in Bothell (the main address is 12313 N.E. 165th St.) and runs from 5-11 p.m. nightly, is completely computer controlled through more than 80 individual relays and sequenced to music including the songs “Wizards in Winter” and “Christmas Eve Sarajevo” by the Trans-Siberian orchestra, “Prelude 12/24” by AFI and more.

Upon arrival at the display, visitors need to tune their radios to 88.3 FM so that they may “hear” the lights. New to the display this year are two “lightning towers” and also a mega tree; many of the lights in the display have been replaced with LEDs this year in order to be eco-friendly.

There will be a collection for Hopelink food bank in the form of non-perishable food and also a collection of working Christmas lights and extension cords so that Jorna (aided by his family and friends) can continue to improve the display, which will run through Jan. 3.
