Former primary opponent Nadia Mustafa has endorsed Steve Booth for Bothell City Council in the upcoming general election. Mustafa earned 10 percent of the vote and finished third in the August primary.

“I am delighted to support Steve Booth,” Mustafa said. “I care deeply about Bothell and its future and I am confident Steve has the experience and commitment to do an excellent job for us on the city council.”

This year was the first time that Mustafa has run for council. Booth will face former Bothell City Council member Tris Samberg during the November general election. Booth had 47 percent of the vote during the primary, while Samberg collected 43 percent of the vote.

“I am honored to have Nadia’s support,” Booth said. “We share a sincere passion for Bothell and a positive approach to leadership and service to the community.”

Mustafa joins other prominent supporters of Booth, including Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe, former Attorney General Rob McKenna and former 1st District Rep. Al O’Brien, among others. Booth is currently a member of the Bothell Planning Commission.

“I am running for city council to protect our vital police and fire services and safeguard our tax dollars from wasteful spending,” Booth said. “I support the Downtown revitalization plan that brings jobs and improvements to Bothell and saved the historic Anderson Building with McMenamins but we need to move now to ensure the people’s vision for Downtown is completed on time and on budget. I also support our Northshore Senior Center and will protect Bothell’s beautiful environment and its parks and open spaces.”

Booth earned an MBA from the University of Washington and has professional experience in both the real estate and the high tech sectors. He is a United States Army veteran and has served the community as a Northshore Youth Basketball Association coach and is on the executive leadership council of HopeLink.
