Bothell-based Greek Gods yogurt teams up with Seattle Marathon runner for Seattle Fitness Expo.

Winter is not the time when everyone thinks about fitness, since it’s mostly about stuffing yourself alongside your family. But for Bothell-based Greek Gods yogurt, it’s always a time for healthy and fit decisions.

Greek Gods yogurt teamed up with Dean Karnazes on Nov. 28 to ensure that Seattleites know of healthy choices and about how to stay fit.

“It felt great [to be at the Expo], we were up at the front and had a good amount of people coming to our booth,” said Allie Neuberg, social media specialist for Greek Gods yogurt.

During the event, Greek Gods yogurt was offering free samples of their newest flavor, Black Cherry, and the reception was overwhelmingly positive.

As interested persons were filling themselves with the new flavor of yogurt, they also had the chance to speak with Dean Karnazes, a participant in the following day’s Seattle Marathon and a prolific marathon and ultra-marathon runner.

According to Karnazas, one of his favorite aspects was mingling with the fans and interested participants of the Expo. During the Expo, he gave a lecture and also signed autographs at the Greek Gods yogurt booth.

“I really enjoyed Dean’s speech. I thought it was really inspiring. I thought he had a great speech presence, he actually made me want to get up and try a half marathon, so that was great,” Newberg said. “I thought it was great because we learned a lot about Dean, but we also got a good feeling for his personality, he’s a very family oriented person and he has a great passion for running … he’s just a great person to have as our spokesman, mentor and part of our team. We’re happy to have him.”

Karnazes started the Marathon at 8:15 a.m. and finished at 11:34 a.m., giving him a three-hour, 19-minute run, with a 7:37 minute mile. He finished 117th out of 1,794 participants and garnered sixth place out of 89 for men ages 50-54.

Greek Gods yogurt is a natural-foods Greek yogurt company headquartered in Bothell’s Canyon Park area.
