Bothell City Council adopted the 2015-2016 Biennial Budget on Dec. 9. The total 2015-2016 city of Bothell budget is more than $200 million, which includes $87 million of General Fund expenditures. The General Fund supports most of the city’s basic services, including community development, engineering, general administration, parks, planning, public safety (Police and Fire) and recreation. These municipal services are almost wholly funded by revenues from various taxes such as sales, property, and utility taxes.

The 2015-2016 Proposed Biennial Budget was first presented to Council on Nov. 4. Since then, there have been three public hearings regarding the budget proposal, utility tax rates and property and EMS tax levies. Council also held two study sessions to discuss and analyze the budget proposal with the various city departments. These meetings provided an opportunity for both council deliberation and citizen input.
