Bothell couple killed, four others injured by fallen tree on Highway 2

A Bothell couple was killed and their three adult children and son-in-law were injured when a falling tree struck their vehicle on Highway 2 Friday afternoon.

A Bothell couple was killed and their three adult children and son-in-law were injured when a falling tree struck their vehicle on Highway 2 Friday afternoon.

Timothy Desmond Owen, 58, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban eastbound, about 21 miles west of Leavenworth on Stevens Pass, when a tree fell on the vehicle, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Owen and his wife, 56-year-old Cheryl Janine Reed, both of Bothell, were killed at the scene.

Two men and two women in the car were injured and transported to Central Washington Hospital, the Washington State Patrol reported. Two of the passengers are also from Bothell and the others are from Seattle.

KOMO reports that two of the passengers were later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, while one of the male passengers was treated and released from Central Washington Hospital. One of the female passengers remains at Central Washington Hospital in critical but stable condition.
