Bothell deputy mayor Davina Duerr has been elected to the board of directors of the Sound Cities Association (SCA), which represents 38 King County cities and provides a regional voice for more than one million people.

“We are excited to have deputy mayor Duerr as the newest member of the SCA board,” said Deanna Dawson, SCA executive director in a press release. “As a Bothell councilmember, she has invaluable experience, representing a city in both King and Snohomish counties. She will bring a fresh voice and a regional perspective to the SCA board.”

SCA provides regional leadership in areas such as economic and community development, transportation, land use, health, government operations, the environment, education, public safety, social welfare and other public policy issues.

According to the release, Duerr has been active in education and civic affairs for more than 10 years. She has chaired the Bothell Landmark Preservation board and is a former vice president of the Northshore Schools Foundation. She co-founded and co-chairs the foundation’s M.I.L.K. Money campaign to raise money for children experiencing homelessness in the Northshore School District.

Duerr has a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Syracuse University and is a senior interior architect at a local architecture firm. Raised in upstate New York, she became a Bothell resident in 2001.

According to the release, Duerr serves on the following boards and committees: Capital Facilities Plan Committee, Human Services Committee, Public Safety Committee (alternate), Snohomish County Tomorrow Steering Committee (Alternate), Sound Cities Association – Public Issues Committee (Alternate), Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (Alternate), WSDOT Executive Advisory Group, PSRC Transportation Policy Board, and the Eastside Transportation Partnership.

SCA, which was formerly known as the Suburban Cities Association, was established 50 years ago to help King County cities of all sizes act locally and partner regionally to create vital and thriving communities through advocacy, education, leadership, mutual support and networking.
