All six members of a Bothell family, including a disabled child, escaped fire on Monday night that destroyed their home and much of what was inside.

One adult and one child were taken to EvergreenHealth hospital in Kirkland as a precaution for smoke inhalation. According to Bothell Fire Department public information officer Kirsten Clemens, the two were set to be released from the hospital as of 10 p.m. on Monday.

Units from five departments and 26 firefighters responded to the blaze, in the 2900 block of 228th Street SE, including Bothell, Kirkland, Woodinville, Shoreline and Snohomish unit seven. Although crews arrived at the home shortly after the blaze was reported, the house was deemed a total loss.

For the family, that means that much of the equipment needed for a child in a wheelchair is also a possible loss.

The family was put up in a hotel thanks to the Bothell-Woodinville Firefighters Benevolent Fund, a non-profit that raises money for various charity needs.
