The city of Bothell is sponsoring a groundbreaking April 6 to mark the commencement of two long-planned municipal roadway projects.

The bigger of the two is the Crossroads project that will realign the three-way intersection of the city’s two state routes and Main Street. The city says the change will make a safer intersection, open new areas to development and improve access to the Sammamish River and the Park at Bothell Landing.

The first phase of the work, scheduled now to get under way in mid to late April, will be the demolition of vacant commercial buildings on the south side of State Route 522.

The second project is a revamping of Wayne Curve near the city’s border with Kenmore. A key component is the addition of dedicated bus lanes.

The groundbreaking is at 10 a.m. at the Lytle House in the Park at Bothell Landing, 9929 N.E. 180th St.
