A 2010 Bothell High School graduate was killed Saturday in Oregon when he lost control of his motorcycle at speeds of more than 100 mph.

Sgt. Dan Kraus with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office identified the man on Tuesday as 21-year-old Bothell resident Alexander Mezich.

Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a fatal single-vehicle motorcycle crash on South Springwater Road, near South Harding Road west of Estacada in Oregon just after 9 p.m.

Witnesses reported a motorcycle traveling east on Springwater Road at a high rate of speed, possibly exceeding 100 mph, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The motorcycle left the roadway and the driver was ejected after hitting a power pole.

There were several witnesses to the crash who called 911. They were initially unable to locate the rider of the motorcycle, but later found him about 60 feet from the motorcycle.

Clackamas Fire District No. 1 responded to the crash and determined the driver was deceased at the scene.

A fried of the family told the Reporter that Mezich, who worked for SPRINTURF, was in Oregon with his brother installing synthetic turf at a local high school. Mezich had stayed in the area an extra day to spend time with his girlfriend.

Mezich’s Facebook page states that he studied architecture at Wenatchee Valley College.
