Bothell house fire: police conducting arson investigation

The City of Bothell Police Department is currently conducting an arson investigation regarding the Bothell house fire that occurred on May 18, located at 11949 N.E. 168th St. The public is being asked to report any suspicious activity witnessed near this location. At 1:40 p.m. May 18, the City of Bothell Fire and E.M.S., Northshore Fire Department, Shoreline Fire Department, Kirkland Fire Department and Woodinville Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found the second floor and attic fully involved in fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames after making an interior and exterior attack. The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire and neighbors were evacuated from their homes. There were no injuries reported.

The single-family residence endured significant fire, smoke and water damage, currently estimated cost of damage has not been determined. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.

The City of Bothell Fire and E.M.S. strongly urges everyone to practice home-escape routes frequently and identify a meeting place outside. Additionally, practice crawling low to the ground when escaping a fire. The No. 1 killer in residential fires is smoke inhalation. Protect your family by having several working smoke alarms installed in your home and check the batteries at least twice a year.
