The Bothell Police Department has equipped and trained all patrol officers with automated external defibrillators (AEDs), enhancing their ability to provide assistance during cardiac emergencies.

AEDs are not new for Bothell police officers; however, citizen donations have made it possible to put an AED in every police car out on patrol in the city. The Bothell Fire Department assisted in the selection of the AEDs and provides ongoing support and training to police officers.

“The AED is one of those tools you hope you never have to use, but you are glad you have one when you need it,” said Bothell Police Chief Carol Cummings.  “When I first came to Bothell, I was happy to see we had the AEDs and am now very pleased we are deploying one in every patrol car.”
