The Bothell Police Department will be implementing a change in the color and graphics scheme of its marked patrol fleet. The Department will be transitioning to black and white patrol vehicles when new vehicles are ordered. The change will be gradual and the public will continue to see the silver patrol vehicles as the fleet is transitioned over the next 3-4 years.
From almost any distance, the black and white is easily recognizable as a patrol car. In every state, and in many countries, law enforcement agencies have maintained, or reverted back to, the black and white scheme to ensure the public can easily identify police vehicles in an emergency.
In the Puget Sound region, many police departments have transitioned back to black and white patrol vehicles.
